In an effort to #AmplifyMelanatedVoices earlier this week, brands and individuals took to social media to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement that campaigns against violence and systemic racism.
Many Canadian brands stepped up to the plate and supported the movement by donating money, having honest conversations on their platforms, and encouraging their following to sign petitions.
Here are 10 Canadian brands that have pledged to listen, learn, and take action against injustice.
Smash + Tess – Donated to Black Lives Matter Canada and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in the U.S.
Knix – Pledged to donate $100,000 to Black Lives Matter in the form of a $25,000 lump sum, and then $75,000 of proceeds from its Nudes and Postpartum collections.
Aritzia – Donated $100,000 to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.
Sephora Canada – Donated a total of $1 million to National Cares Mentoring Movement, Center For Urban Families, the NAACP, National Black Justice Coalition, and the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation Black Women’s Roundtable.
SSENSE – Pledged to donate funds to Black Lives Matter.
Brunette the Label – Pledged to donate to human rights organizations, and opened up their DMs for honest conversations and feedback.
Lululemon – Donated $100,000 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.
Jenny Bird – Pledged $10,000 between Black Lives Matter, Black Visions Collective, American Civil Liberties Union, the NAACP, Reclaim the Block, and the Justice for Regis Korchinski Paquet fund.
KOTN – Donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, American Civil Liberties Union, and the Black Visions Collective.
Mejuri – Donated to the official George Floyd Memorial Fund.
