On December 10, Instagram announced that users can now shop from their favorite retailers on Instagram Reels. Businesses can tag products giving the buyer options to learn more about the product, purchase the product or save for later. Merchants can now use every format – Reels, the Feed, Stories, IGTV, and Live – to sell their merchandise on the popular social media platform.
2020 has been the year of ecommerce and new ways of shopping. In October, Shopify and TikTok partnered to allow merchants to reach a larger consumer audience. TikTok’s new channel is only available in the United States and will be more widely available in 2021, whereas Instagram shopping in available globally.
